abstract = "This work has the objective mapping in scale 1:100.000 and
quantify the changes into cover and lands, in the town of Fatima
(TO) through uses of remote sensing and geoprocessing in a
comparative research of the years of 1984 and 2009. The research
was made by the using of satellite images TM Landsat 5,
pre-existed data and visual interpretation of images in many
computing environments of the geoprocessing, highlighting the
ArcGis software and PCI Geomatics. The methodology basically
corresponded to the stages of survey of bibliographic material,
acquisition and analysis of cartographic data and orbital,
assembly of geodata base, digital processing of images
(georeferencing, mosaic, clipping and enhancement), visual
interpretation of the data and work field. The seven were mapped
classes: cerrado stricto sensu, gallery forest/riparian, savanna,
secondary forestation, agriculture and pasturage, urbanized area
and bodies of water continental. Over the years 1984 and 2009 we
observed changes on land cover and land use in the study area,
noting that the trends of the changes was the replacement of
vegetation by anthropogenic uses, especially in farms, which
currently holds 44.01% of the town area, indicating a need for
monitoring changes in land cover and land uses in the town.",
